The Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” has worked actively to support the democratic community in Ukraine in its efforts to join the Euro-Atlantic community and the European Union since 2007. These efforts have long-term implications for the consolidation of democracy and the irreversibility of democratic processes in Ukraine, for the strategic and geopolitical balance and stability in the Black Sea region, and for the economic development at national and regional scale. In partnership with leading Ukrainian non-governmental organizations, the Bulgarian School of Politics has organized workshops, conferences and trainings with the participation of politicians, experts and representatives of the governmental and non-governmental sector on issues related to the eventual future membership of the EU and NATO.
Last year events in Ukraine significantly increase geopolitical and economic uncertainty with direct negative impacts on the economies of Ukraine and the region as a whole. The escalating confrontation between Ukraine and Russia has caused economic problems and jeopardized the recovery process in Eastern Europe. It is also a major factor for global security. That is the reason why the work in the region for promoting the process of democratization is one of the priorities in the activities of the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza”.
