“Advisory Councils – Opportunities for Change” is the theme of a round table organized by the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza”. It will be held on May 26, 2015 at the Radisson Hotel, Sofia.
A special guest speaker will be Patrick Trees, Secretary General of the Parliament of the Canton of Bern in Switzerland, who will present the European experience in public consultation. The event will be attended by representatives of the legislative power, the executive power, NGOs, political and civic leaders, graduates of the School and media. They will get acquainted with the results of two analyzes made by the team of the Bulgarian School of Politics – the existing advisory councils to the executive power in the country and the best practices for civil society participation in the decision-making process in 10 European countries. The forum aims to facilitate the dialogue and the interaction between the decision-makers and civil society organizations by offering best practices and models for effective functioning of consultative bodies in which civil representation is legitimate and can be implemented in Bulgaria.
The roundtable takes place within the project “Models and Good Practices for Legitimate Civic Representation”, financed by the NGO Programme under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism.
