The accent during the second day of the National Program was a panel dedicated to the policies for children. Guest-speakers in the panel were Ms. Eva Zhecheva, chairman of the State Agency for Child Protection, Ms. Rositsa Dimitrova, director of “Social Activities” at Veliko Turnovo Municipality and Mr. Georgi Bogdanov, executive director of the National Network for Children.
Before that the program was dedicated to regional development and decentralization. The day started with a lecture by Yavor Aleksiev from the Institute for Market Economy. He presented the annual research of the organization – “Regional Profiles: Indicators of Development”. After that the executive director of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria – Ginka Chavdarova explained the process of decentralization and the challenges ahead of it.
A special guest-speaker at the panel “30 minutes with…” was the philanthropist Elvin Guri. Mr. Guri and his wife Ms. Ralitsa Again support education initiatives and institutions, among which the American University in Bulgaria, Junior Achievement Bulgaria and “Teach for Bulgaria”. He was a guest, as part of the efforts of the Bulgarian School of Politics to support philanthropy in Bulgaria.
