More than 60 people found a job after a meeting between employers and people from the Roma community in Pavlikeni Municipality. 25 people started a permanent job in a factory for sanitary ware and 40 were employed in rose production. The meeting took place in March. The meeting is an idea of Mr. Stefan Stefanov and was held with the support of Pavlikeni municipality and the labour office in the municipality. The event will be organized 3 or 4 times a year.
Mr. Stefan Stefanov and other 17 young people presented today in Sofia non financial projects for of Roma communities’ integration. The proposals included the creation of advisory councils on ethnic and integration issues to municipalities, research on political representation of the Roma community, promoting youth employability, intercultural dialogue in school, etc. The event is part of the project “Encouraging civic participation of young Roma”, implemented by the Association “New Road – Hairedin” and the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” and is financed by the NGO Programme under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism.
The project aims to support more active involvement of the Roma community in the public policies development and decision-making processes by creating conditions for young Roma to publicly discuss their problems and seek solutions for them.
