With a lecture delivered by the President of the Department of International Relations and Director of the Center for International and European Studies at the Kadir Has University in Istanbul, Prof. Dimitrios Triantaphyllou, started the last, fourth, course of the National Program. In front of the participants – political and civic leaders – Prof. Triantaphyllou talked about the major international players and the processes between them. He emphasized on the possibilities to avoid creating a world of dystopia.
“In these difficult times, the belief in the European Union, in the European project, is what can pull us forward. But these processes can not be driven only by the elites. The voice of ordinary citizens should also be heard,” said the professor, adding that the glue that holds the world after 1945 begins to wither, and the only way to go forward is everyone to fight for what he believes in.
Before moving to the new themes and tasks, the participants in the National Program “Governing Skills” presented their group homework. The task was to make suggestions about the energy mix of Bulgaria, placing a major emphasis on Bulgaria’s energy security.
Comments on the homework were given by the jury – Mr. Ivan Hinovski, Chairman of the Bulgarian Energy Forum and Mr. Yavor Kuyumdzhiev, Member of the BSP National Assembly.
The fourth course of the National Program is devoted to European policies and will continue until 21st of March at the Riu Hotel in the town of Pravets.
